Thousands flock to Brown’s Island to experience Dominion Riverrock

RICHMOND, Va. — An estimated 100,000 people checked out Dominion Riverrock on Richmond’s Brown’s Island over the weekend. The three-day event tied its attendance record set last year, according to organizers who billed it “the largest outdoor sports and music festival in the United States.” Thousands of people crowded the island for Saturday night for Blues Traveler’s sunset concert.

While music was a big draw, so too were the sporting events which ranged from running to kayaking, biking to bouldering.

“Dominion Riverrock is a celebration of downtown Richmond’s riverfront, and the James River took center stage during the festival,” event organizers said. Domionion Riverrock will return to Brown’s Island and Historic Tredegar on May 20-22, 2016.
