RICHMOND, Va. -- It's a big weekend for many college students across our area. The University of Richmond, Virginia Union University and Virginia Commonwealth University all have graduations this weekend.
At VCU, administrators expect to hand out more than 5,000 Saturday. So expect a lot of traffic around the Richmond Coliseum, where graduation is being held.
Due to construction near the Richmond Coliseum, the 7th Street Bridge over Leigh Street will be closed to through traffic. In addition, Leigh Street between 4th Street and 8th Street and the lower level entrance to the Richmond Coliseum on Leigh Street will be closed. Detours around the street closures will be provided.
In terms of parking for VCU graduation, spots are available through private contractors in decks and lots adjoining the Richmond Coliseum. There is a nominal fee. Mobility-impaired guests and candidates may park at the Richmond Coliseum entrance on 7th Street.
