STAFFORD, Va. — The missing man student and father, Lance Calvin Buckley, that multiple law enforcement agencies were looking for has been found and in good condition, reported the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.
Buckley was located in Frederick County by the Brunswick Police Department and Rangers from the National Park Service at the Brunswick Family Campground, near Harper’s Ferry, West Virginia. The agencies were responding to tips that an individual meeting Buckley’s description was seen in the area.
The Howard University PhD student disappeared Tuesday after he left his Stafford County home to pick up his graduation packet from the Washington, D.C. school, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.
Buckley, 33, was reported missing by his family Tuesday night. Buckley was last seen by his family at around 8 a.m. Tuesday when he was dropped off at the Staffordboro Commuter Lot where he slugs, or gets a ride with a stranger, to Howard University. The commuter lot is about 40 miles from the university.
“Buckley’s wife received a text message from her husband at approximately 10:16 a.m. [Tuesday] from the area of Howard University. The contents of the text indicate that it was from Lance Buckley,” Stafford County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Bill Kennedy said. “However, Lance Buckley did not show up for a scheduled meeting at noon [Tuesday] at the University and his family has had no contact with him since the 10:16 am text. It is out of character for Lance Buckley to not keep in contact with his family during the day.”
“We are truly pleased that Mr. Buckley was found safe and in good condition,” states Sheriff Charles Jett. “The partnership between the law enforcement agencies , the Media and citizens in this region were critical to locating Lance Buckley.”
