RICHMOND, Va. -- Search crews spent much of Friday in the water under and searching via helicopter over the Robert E. Lee Memorial Bridge in downtown Richmond.

Richmond Fire spokesman Lt. Christopher Armstrong said witnesses saw someone "enter the water." Witnesses said they saw someone jump off the bridge.

Search crews from Henrico County were also part of the search.

While the Lee Bridge is a main artery that connects north and south Richmond, under the Lee Bridge is the Belle Isle Pedestrian Bridge that connects Tredegar Street, north of the river, to Belle Isle. Belle Isle is a recreation spot for thousands of runners, walkers, biker, kayakers, climbers and families.

Anyone with additional information about the search can email a tip here.
