Daycare teacher fired over Facebook post about children

Posted

THE COLONY, Texas -- When a Texas mom vented about her new job online, she was fired before her first day at work. As a single mom, Kaitlyn Walls said she was happy that she finally found steady work to help pay the bills. She seemed less excited that the job was at a daycare center.

"I start my new job today," the 27-year-old mom posted on Facebook. "But I absolutely hate working at day care." She also wrote "I just really hate being around a lot of kids."

Her post sparked immediate criticism on social media.

"I had all these girls attacking me because I don't want to be around a lot of kids all the time," Walls said. "I actually cried. It really hurt me because I wasn't trying to offend anybody ever."

Walls said when the daycare operators got wind of her post, they told her to not bother coming in to work.

"It really was a big mistake," Walls admitted. "I don't hate children, no not at all, I have my own, she's beautiful I love her. I was just venting."

Walls said once she landed her next job, she would keep her opinions to herself.

"I'm not going to post anything like it ever no matter how I feel," Walls said.
