‘Depleted’ crab population in Chesapeake Bay rebounds

RICHMOND, Va. -- After reaching record lows, a Chesapeake delicacy is making a small rebound.

A study by Virginia and Maryland scientists say the crab population is estimated now at 411,000,000 -- a 38 percent increase from last year.

The stock was officially considered "depleted" last year and the price for a dozen jumped by $8. Now that price is expected to fall.

The crabs aren't "out of the deep water" yet -- fishermen may have catch limits again this year.
