CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Two women and two 13-year-old girls were charged in connection to a fight in Chesterfield County, according to Chesterfield Police. Shawna Williams, 28, of Tinsberry Drive, and Georgia Martinez, 59, of Dunlop Place were both charged with assault and battery after the March 26 incident. Williams was also charged with cruelty and injury to children.
"Police responded to the 2700 block of Martingale Road for a report of a fight in progress," a Chesterfield Police spokeswoman said. "Upon investigation, it was determined that two juvenile females, both age 13, had been involved in a fight. Williams, who was related to one of the juveniles, became involved in the fight, striking the other juvenile female."
Martinez, who is related to the other 13-year-old girl, also became involved in the fight, according to police.
"I did not hit that child," Williams said when asked about the incident Tuesday night. "As I stated [to police], I separated the two of them."
A person who witnessed the fight shared a video that showed parts of the fight. Other people who live in the apartment complex where the brawl took place said there was more to the story, but did not want to go on camera to explain.
Williams said the video shows she was forced to the ground.
"There's several people on me, my hair gets pulled," she said.
Williams said Martinez is the grandmother of the other girl and hit her sister.
"She [Martinez] struck a third juvenile female, age 16, whose involvement in the incident is unclear," police said. "The 13-year-old females were also charged with assault."
Neighbors told us Martinez was at the complex Tuesday, but did not want to speak.
"The fight did not need to happen," said Williams.
