VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Police are investigating after a group of friends found a skull in a muddy swamp off Virginia Beach Boulevard Saturday afternoon. The men made the discovery after one of their trucks got stuck in the mud.
"We were just out here having fun and our friend got stuck in the back, so we were trying to pull him out and we found a skull," Wyatt Barnett told WTKR. "It caught our eye, so we had to go out and investigate a little bit and see if we were seeing what we were seeing."
Barnett said the skull appeared to be that of a man, however police have not yet determined if the skull was human. Homicide detectives responded as part of the investigation.
