LOUISA, Va. -- People were rattled awake early Sunday morning after a tremor struck Louisa County. The U.S. Geological Survey confirmed a 2.8 magnitude earthquake happened around 3 a.m. The epicenter originated about six miles southeast of Louisa.
A seismograph plot shows activity right around 3 a.m.
People at the Sheriff's Office confirmed they felt the ground tremble underneath them, as did several viewers who called into the WTVR CBS 6 Newsroom left messages on social media.
There are no reports of injuries or serious damage.
