Longer school days for Chesterfield students

Posted

CHESTERFIELD, Va. -- Students in Chesterfield County Public Schools  have missed 50-plus hours of class time because of  snow days.  Now the school district is working hard to make up at least 16 of those hours without cutting in to vacation time.

The state of Virginia requires students to have 990 hours of instruction time every school year so it is crucial for the lost class time to be made up.

Chesterfield schools have had 10 snow days and a 2-hour delay this winter.

In addition to adding 15 minutes to every school day between March 2 and April 30, Chesterfield schools are also replacing March 25, an early release day, with a full instructional day.
