CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — A Chesterfield family is thankful for the quick actions of two state troopers.

A family whose three-year-old boy had stopped breathing on Friday night flagged down Trooper M.B. Petrini  along Jefferson Davis Highway at West Hundred Road.

Petrini performed CPR and then a short time later Trooper D.A. Robinson arrived to help.

Officials said that just as Chesterfield Fire and EMS crews arrived, the child began to breathe and regained a pulse.

The little boy survived and on Sunday received a visit from both troopers. They brought the boy a Virginia State Police teddy bear.

“They were amazed to see the little guy bouncing around with his sister as if nothing had ever happened,” according to a news release.
