Megan Connors, a 30-year-old math teacher at the school, is accused of having a sexual relationship a 15-year-old boy, who is one of her students.

“We just learned that these charges have come down. They’re very serious charges.” said Steve Hegarty of the Hillsborough County School Disttrict.

Connors had been having sex with the victim multiple times over the past month -- including while at the school and during school hours -- according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials also said Connors and the boy allegedly left school in her personal car and drove to the victim's house, where the pair had intercourse in the teen’s bedroom. The relationship allegedly started with kissing and fondling.

While the case is still under investigation, detectives said they do not believe any other students were involved.

Additionally, Hegarty said Connors just started teaching at the middle school in August.

“She had nothing in her background that would suggest anything like this. You know it’s shocking and it’s disappointing,” Hegarty said.

The Tampa Tribune reports Connors, who faces seven counts of sexual battery and charges of lewd and lascivious battery and lewd conduct, is being held without bond at the Orient Road Jail.
