HANOVER, Va. — Multiple CBS 6 viewers have called after spotting a feral hog in Hanover.

“The hog is still in the area, and has been observed by our staff,” said Aaron Proctor, with the Virginia Department of Game & Inland Fisheries (VDGIF). “If citizens come into contact or observe any feral hogs they should report the sighting to the phone number on our flyer.”

Hanover Animal Control is investigating if the hog belongs to any adjacent or nearby residents, and they are working with VDGIF, and USDA-Wildlife Services to determine a course of action if there is no owner.

“We have had some calls from citizens reporting a pig on the loose,” said Hanover Captain Mike Trice. “No info yet on an owner.”

More information on feral hogs can be found here.

The number to call if you spot a feral hog or any damage is: 1-855-571-9003.
