RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond City Police went before the Public Safety Standing Committee of Richmond City Council to discuss body cameras for police officers.
Police have asked for 400 cameras to be shared and worn by patrol units.
The cost would be $200,000 for hardware and setup and $235,000 to maintain hardware for cloud space, according to Major Scott Booth. Every year would bring an additional cost of $235,000 for maintenance and upgrades every year.
No time frame on when, or if police will definitely get the cameras.
