SEATTLE -- Who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks? In Seattle, Washington there lives a dog who rides the bus to get around town. Here's the thing though, Eclipse the black lab, rides the bus all by herself.
"She sits here just like a person does! She's a person! And all the bus drivers know her," one bus rider said.
"She gets on and off by herself," said another.
Seattle radio DJ Miles Montgomery even snapped a selfie with Eclipse.
"I thought, man oh man, this is nuts!" Montgomery said. "The dog gets off at the stop and the dog park and gets of the bus, and I just look out the window and I'm like, did that just happen?"
Eclipse's owner said his dog became "urbanized" during their constant trips to a dog park. Before getting on the bus to the park, Jeff Young said he'd stop to smoke. If the bus arrived before he was finished smoking, Eclipse would take off without him.
"We get separated. She gets on the bus without me. And I catch up with her at the dog park," Young said.
A spokesman for Metro Transit said while they loved that Eclipse was a public transit supporter, it would be much safer if her owner kept her on a leash.
