Man dies in Louisa County house fire

LOUISA COUNTY, Va. --  A man was killed in a house fire  in Louisa County early Sunday morning.

The blaze broke out around 4 a.m. in a home along Zachary Taylor Highway.

WCAV reports that the house was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived.

A neighbor managed to rescue a woman who also lived in the home.

The blaze closed a section of the Zachary Taylor Highway for hours.

Police closed Route 522 in both directions near the Hancock Mill Road (Route 751) intersection two miles north of Mineral in Louisa County.

The name of the victim has not yet been released.

Crews are still investigating what sparked the blaze.
