‘Significant weapon order’ means Henrico police will soon have more cameras

Posted

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. – More cameras will soon be in use by police officers in Henrico County.

Taser International released a list Monday of police departments from across the country that have recently made "significant weapon order."

Henrico was on that list, with the company saying the police department had recently purchased 50 X-2 stun guns equipped with Taser Cam HD recorders.

Those are cameras that are mounted to the bottom of the handle of a Taser.

As CBS 6 reported earlier this year, Henrico has also bought body cameras that can be mounted on an officer's shoulder or on an ear piece.

The county hopes to have a body camera for the county's officers by Jan. 1.
