HANOVER COUNTY, Va. — A brush fire call led fire crews to a burning home at 11070 Old Telegraph Road in Hanover Monday morning.

“About 20 Fire-EMS personnel made a defensive attack on the fire and were able to bring it under control in about an hour,” Hanover Fire and EMS spokesman Batt. Chief Jason Williams said. “No one was injured and the home appears to be a total loss.”

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The fire was first reported at about 5:40 a.m.

“Hanover Fire-EMS reminds you to have working smoke alarms on each floor of your home and outside of each sleeping area,” Williams said. “Hanover Fire-EMS recommends that smoke alarms greater than 10 years old be replaced.”

If you need help getting a smoke alarm, call the Metro Richmond Smoke Alarm Hotline at 1-888-537-5967.
