HENRICO COUNTY, Va. - Jeffrey Edwards was charged with armed robbery after Henrico Police said pulled out a knife while he demanded money from a tenant. Police said the tenant complied with Edwards' demand.
"They said I had taken $100 from him, searched my pockets, my wallet, there was no $100 bill," Edwards said in an interview conducted late Friday in the Henrico County jail.
Edwards said he subleases two rooms in his Henrico home. He said the roommate who went to police was supposed to move out Friday and was upset because he would not get his security deposit back because he lived at the home for less than 90 days.
"He was very outraged when I told him he would not be getting that back," Edwards said.
Although he is charged with armed robbery, Edwards said the alleged incident never happened.
"He either made this up about being upset, about not receiving his deposit or he conspired with my other tenant because I called the police on him earlier that day because I had caught him doing drugs," Edwards said.
Edwards' next court appearance is December 17.
