Chicago, IL — Tightrope walker Nik Wallenda conquered Chicago, and broke two world records in the process.
He performed two stunts Sunday night.
In the first, Wallenda walked for about two city blocks over the Chicago River on an incline. He did a second walk between the two Marina City towers, while blindfolded.
Wallenda talked to WGN Morning News from the rooftop of one of the Marina City towers.
He told us that his grandmother watched him during rehearsals, and she said she was not impressed with his blindfolded walk. So he challenged himself to kneel down and walk backwards, which he said prepared him for his blindfolded Chicago walk.
His next feat? To recreate his family’s seven-person pyramid on the wire in his hometown of Sarasota, Fla.
In 1962, two of his family members died and his uncle was paralyzed during the pyramid stunt.
