CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — After months of fundraising and a lot of hard work, two Chesterfield high school students completed their “Rocket for the Cure” rocket launch Sunday.
Sanzio Angeli, 17, and Dylan Whitesel, 18, have been working on this goal since January.
Dylan’s Mom, Diane, has been diagnosed with breast cancer, liver cancer and lymph node cancer in 2008.
The pair wanted to raise money for breast cancer research and break the world record for most rockets launched.
Dozens of their fellow students helped build the more than 4,000 rockets to break the Guinness Book of World Records. And each of their rockets had to launch within five seconds.
The launch on Sunday evening was held at Chesterfield County Fairgrounds.
The pair raised over $20,000 for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Sanzio attends Clover Hill High School Dylan attends Manchester High School.
