PURCELL, Okla. — It all began with an afternoon of recreation on the Canadian River in Oklahoma, but when the sun went down and the beer was gone, the party moved to a Purcell convenience store.
KFOR reportsthat around midnight, a man walks in with his loyal companion close behind. He apparently took a beer banner “Grab A Bud”, literally!
You can see the shirtless guy on store surveillance. He grabs a six-pack out of the cooler, and goes straight into the bathroom.
Police found the empty bottles with his finger prints all over them.
“I never would have thought about getting beer and going to the restroom,” Scott Stephens with Purcell Police Department said.
Employees posted the surveillance photos on the window. Within days, the bathroom beer bandit had been identified.
“Several officers who had dealt with him before had identified him from the store screen shots,” Stephens said.
Authorities went to the suspect’s house and questioned him.
The man told investigators he was simply helping the clerk restock the beer cooler. He could not explain three missing six-packs or the party in the potty.
Purcell police are presenting the case to the District Attorney on Friday for charges of petty larceny.
