NORTH HAVEN, Conn. — Two people are being charged with allegedly trying to break into a North Haven home Thursday afternoon.
WFSB reports that the first attempt was at a home on Hartford Turnpike, where a 13-year-old child hid in the attic while he called police.
The two suspects tried to break in to a second home. They reportedly walked to the rear of an unoccupied home on Hartford Turnpike and cut a first floor window screen.
Police said the suspects tried to lift the glass window but it was locked. They tried a door located on the home’s deck but could not break in.
As police scanned the neighborhood, the suspects were spotted attempting to break in to a third home by forcing open a rear window and were finally detained by police.
The suspects were identified as 24-year-old Andrew Vermiglio and 18-year-old Devin Cruz who were each charged with second-degree criminal attempt to commit burglary, conspiracy and risk of injury. They were each held on a $25,000 bond.
