CORDELE, Ga. — A Georgia alligator hunter got more than he bargained for last week.
Chad Young said he and his friends spent four hours battling a gator that he bagged on Lake Blackshear Thursday night.
Young said it took six shots to slay the beast. After more friends arrived, they loaded the 13-foot, 650-pound alligator into a truck.
As big as it was, the gator was still just below state records.
Young said he hoped he’d be able to bag another gator before the hunting season ends on Sunday.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources estimates this gator was about 45 years old.
