September 2014 weather in review

Posted

As we track much cooler air for the first weekend of October, we come off the heels of a warm and dry September for the greater Richmond area.

We set a record high of 101° on September 2nd, and the coolest temperature was 52° on September 23rd.

Rainfall was quite meager, and the month ended up almost three inches below normal.  The highest rainfall for a one-day period occurred on September 24th when 0.66″ fell.  Rainfall on many other days totaled under one-tenth of an inch.  With September’s low rainfall, the deficit for the year is now around seven inches below normal.
