What is in a name? According to one man, a lot of preconceived notion.
Searching for jobs is certainly no easy feat. A man named José Zamora said it’s even harder if you are Hispanic. He claims he has been job searching for months, even sending out lots of resumes a day.
He told BuzzFeed that he immediately started getting responses and job offers when he dropped one letter from his name.
José dropped the ‘s’ from his first name, and simply became: Joe.
“Sometimes I don’t even think people know or are conscious or aware that they’re judging – even if it’s by name,” Zamora told BuzzFeed. “But I think we all do it all the time.”
He said some of the same employers that once ignored his resume are now responding to him.
