SEBASTIAN, Fla. — A Florida woman has posted an ad on Craigslist and contacted a television station warning that her 10-foot red-tailed Columbian boa snake named “Squeezer” has been missing since August 18.

WPTV reports that Betty Skel says that the snake was last seen at her home on Roseland Road in Sebastian.

Skel says “Squeezer” eats every two weeks and his last meal was a rabbit-sized rat. She warns dog and cat owners in her neighborhood to watch out. The snake may come out of hiding and look for something to eat.

Skel, who described “Squeezer” as a lap dog, said she’s heartbroken over his disappearance. She believes the snake may have slipped out a door.

That’s why one neighbor shut his garage door.

“I probably will keep it closed just to be on the safe side,” says Ed Casto, who lives a few doors down. “There’s a lot of place it could hide around here.”

Skel is offering a reward and asking people not to hurt the snake and to call her or the Sebastian Police Department if they see him.

Dr. Jeffrey Slade, a local veterinarian who specializes in reptiles, says most likely the snake is close to its home since that type of snake generally does not travel very far.
