Alpharetta, GA (WGCL) — Dash cam video released by the Alpharetta Police Department shows an officer shot seven times in April of 2013.
“As I was approaching the car, all of the sudden he (shooter) jumped out and started shooting. I was able to return fire and we had a little exchange. I radioed in to dispatch what happened, that I’d been hit and when the ambulance got there I had my cell phone with me so I called Christie(wife),” said Officer David Freeman, the patrolman shot.
Police shot and killed the shooter, Curtis Hicks, who they said was a loner and lived with a mental illness. Officers are not sure what led to the shooting, but said they found 18 loaded magazines in Hicks’ apartment used for an AR-15.
