NC boy fund raises 400 pairs of shoes for school kids

Posted

It started out as a birthday wish: instead of presents, a 9-year-old North Carolina boy asked for pairs of shoes for kids in need.

The community and donators from across the country helped deliver.

On Monday, Gunner Robinson delivered 400 pairs of new shoes to school officials in Wilmington.

His original goal was 300 pairs, but he received much more.

The fourth grader says it feels good to help students start school on the "right foot."

"It's going to make me feel really happy because they're not wearing old shoes and they're wearing new shoes,” Robinson said.

The shoes will be distributed to students in need in surrounding counties.

Gunner hasn't stopped giving back.

He's already working on his next project - a food drive for Thanksgiving.
