2 hospitalized after armored truck crashes in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — The driver and passenger of an armored truck are in the hospital after the vehicle slammed into a tree on River Road on Tuesday, according to Chesterfield police.

Officers said the accident happened just before noon when the truck, which was traveling westbound on River Road,  ran off the right side of the highway, over corrected and then ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree.

Officials said the female passenger was airlifted to the hospital. The driver was also taken to the hopsital.  but both she and the driver are expected to be OK.

The accident is under investigation and no charges have been filed as of Tuesday evening.

Officers said it appears alcohol and speed were not factors.
