RICHMOND, Va. -- The University of Richmond issued an alert Friday morning to evacuate Gray Court following what was described as a "hazardous gas" situation. Gray Court is an on-campus dorm that houses upperclassmen.
Fire crews on scene said the situation involved carbon monoxide. Construction crews were working in the basement of Gray Court.
About 50 students were in the dorm at the time of the evacuation.
No one was injured in the incident.
The dorm was not full of students as classes begin at UR on August 25. There are students moving back on campus this week as pre-orientation and orientation programs are underway.
