Is there a science to help you find the perfect partner, and can it be used in an online dating service? The science of relationship compatibility examines concepts like “instant chemistry” and “opposites attract”, and puts the science to work helping people find their perfect partner.
Although Singldout.comonly recently launched, there are 20 years of research and data behind the methods, according to Elle France, co-founder of new dating website SingldOut.com.
Users offer a DNA sample, and it will be genetically tested for compatibly. France said that once participants offer their saliva sample, it is sent to Instant Chemistry, based out of Canada.
The group has testimonials from divorced couples and current couples to prove the findings.
“The more different your immune system is from your partners can make you more compatible,” said France.
She said that a difference in immune system can provide more chemistry between partners and increase their sexual compatibility.
“You’ll be attractive [to one another] in the long run,” she said.
The serotonin gene, which can be a measure of how well you handle yourself during stress and emotional situations, is also tested.
“People who respond differently to emotions, are likely not to be a good match,” France said.
Based on the DNA data, in some instances opposites do attract, but in others, they don’t.
Singldout.com also offers personality testing as another layer to the DNA matching.
The cost to become a member is $66 a month, with a three-month minimum membership. This sum includes the DNA testing and kit.
The organization Instant Chemistry is currently running a research trial to find out if the tests work for the LGBTQ community. If you’re interested in participating please send them your contact information to find out how you can help further the science of relationship compatibility.
