Woody the dog reportedly spent more than a year waiting for his owner to return home, but it never happened.
After his owner died, the family sold the house and left Woody to fend for himself, according online posts from Hope for Paws founder Eldad Hagar. Neighbors left food and water for the dog.
Hagar and Lisa Chiarelli worked together to rescue Woody from a nearby shed where they think he had lived for a year.
Woody was blind in one eye. His coat was severely matted. He was underweight.
They shaved away the matted fur and gave Woody a bath. Chiarelli was fostering Woody until his forever home was found.
