RICHMOND, Va. — Thursday’s strong storms not only knocked out power to thousands of folks across Central Virginia, but it also likely knocked out Dominion Power’s outage hotline.

A viewer told CBS 6 that the line, 866-366-4357 (DOM-HELP),  was not working around 6:45 p.m. Then Dominion Power tweeted confirmation that the line was down as of 7:30 p.m.

Dominion Power’s Dave Genest told CBS 6 that officials are not certain what caused the line to go down, but they believe the problem was storm-related.

As a result of the outage, Dominion Power is asking customers to report outages online.

Genest said that power should be restored overnight to customers in metro Richmond.

Additionally, power is scheduled to be restored to customers in east Richmond and Hanover by Friday evening.
