RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Neighbors in Church Hill are shocked after they said an accident happened on the 2200 block of Jefferson Ave. Friday night.
Darrell Coffey, who lives on Jefferson Ave. said he was getting ready for bed around 11:30 p.m. when he heard an unexpected sound.
"We heard a loud repeated bang kind of clanking noise," said Coffey.
Coffey said he went outside and saw a car up on the sidewalk and another one in his neighbor's front yard.
Police sources told CBS 6 that a driver went through a traffic light, hit the signal, a trash can and then a parked car before landing in front of a home.
Neighbors told CBS 6 the car went right through the fence.
"Very startling," said Coffey. "Definitely the craziest thing I've seen since living here."
Richmond Police were unable to provide information on the condition of the driver, but Coffey said he believes things could have been much worse.
"Neighbors said that if they hadn't hit the car, chances are it would have ended up in their front porch or inside their house," said Coffey.
