RICHMOND, Va (WTVR) – If you have old prescription drugs in your cabinets, police want you do to something with them this weekend.
On Saturday, a number of police departments across our area will hold prescription drug takeback events. The idea is to give you a safe way to dispose of your old medicines.
Police say people often flush unused medicines down the toilet, causing toxins to get into the water and soil. In addition, when you leave old medication in your cabinet, it raises the risk that it will fall into the wrong hands.
Below is a list of drug takeback locations and times:
Chesterfield County: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bon Secours St. Francis Watkins Centre, 601 Watkins Centre Parkway
Henrico County: 10 a.m. t0 2 p.m. in the Henrico Training Center Lobby, 7701 East Parham Road
Richmond: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Social Service Center at Southside Plaza, 4100 Hull Street Road
Richmond: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the East End Community Center, 701 N. 25th Street
Hanover County: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hanover Sheriff’s Department, 7522 County Complex Rd
Hanover County: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ashland Police Department, 601 England Street
Hopewell: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hopewell Police Department’s collection site, 300 N. Main Street
