NEW YORK (WTVR) – A game for a good cause turned into a bench clearing brawl as the New York Fire Department took on the New York Police Department in a charity hockey game.
The score was tied 3-3 in the third period when both sides came out onto the ice to fight rather than play.
It took 25 minutes for officials to restore order and clear the ice of dropped sticks, gloves and helmets. After all the penalties were handed out, the NYPD won 8-5 ending a losing streak in the series. Despite the fighting, no serious injuries were reported.
