RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Fire crews rescued a man who jumped into the James River near Belle Isle Sunday evening.
Richmond fire officials said it happened just after 6 p.m. when the man jumped from an embankment or a rock into the James.
Crews said the man was surprised by the river’s powerful current. He managed to make it to a rock until officials could pluck him from the water.
He was not injured.
