“All concerts are free and open to the public,” the SportsBackers announced.
Last year’s festival was cut short when a fan threw a bottle on stage and hit legendary reaggae singer Toots Hibbert in the head. Hibbert, who was rushed to the hospital as the concert abruptly ended, required seven stitches on his forehead.
The bottle thrower was convicted and sentenced to jail.
In a $20 million lawsuit filed over the summer, Hibbert alleged the injury he suffered in Richmond forced his group, Toots and the Maytals, to cancel their concert tour – costing the band “significant income.”
