LOS ANGELES (WTVR) – Do you ever feel dumb shelling $4, $5, sometimes even $6 for a cup of coffee at Starbucks? Well, a new coffee shop opened in Los Angeles that sounds perfect for you.
Dumb Starbucks opened its doors to coffee lovers on Friday.
The store is a near carbon copy of your neighborhood Starbucks, except for the name and the “Dumb Jazz Standards” playing over the sound system.
“Drinks are served in cups that mock the Seattle coffee giant’s logo, while pastries are pulled from display cases straight in their Vons’ packaging. The menu features such offerings as Dumb Iced Coffee, Dumb Frappuccinos and Wuppy Duppy Latte,” according to a report on KTLA.com.
“I found out about Dumb Starbucks on Twitter,” coffee drinker Peter Murphy said inside the store. “I think it’s real dumb. It tastes the same which makes regular Starbucks even dumber.”
A spokesperson for Dumb Starbucks said since their store is a parody, making fun of the original Starbucks, they have permission to use the Starbucks trademarks under “fair use” law.
