Prosecutors said they planned to seek a grand jury indictment on a murder charge against Benjamin P. Dancy, 50, of Tyler Street.

Dancy is the man police said stabbed two women inside the rental office at Chamberlayne Gardens apartment complex last week. One of the women, 44-year-old Della Scott, died in the attack.

Richmond Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney Learned Barry said it was one of the most brutal killings he had ever seen.

"Some people need to be locked up, you know and maybe he should stay in jail for the rest of his life, because I don't know, it was just horrific, from what I understand," neighbor Curt Robertson said about the crime and the suspect. "They were nice church people and they had kids and family and it shouldn't have happened right here at Christmas."

Dancy will remain locked up until his next hearing scheduled for January.
