NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) -- Sources say a New Kent High School sophomore has been taken to a Richmond hospital after collapsing on a school bus Tuesday afternoon.
"According to a source close to the matter, the girl became unresponsive and was not breathing after collapsing. A school resource officer administered CPR and a portable defibrillator (AED) was utilized until paramedics arrived on scene," reported Alan Chamberlain with the New Kent/Charles City Chronicle.
Paramedics were able to stabilize the teen and that she was airlifted to VCU Medical Center.
The superintendent of New Kent County Public Schools is not commenting on the incident.
