MUNCIE, Ind.– Police are currently searching for a gunman on Ball State University police after reports that a gun was seen on campus.

An alert on BSU’s website said that, at 5 p.m., “an individual in the recreation and wellness building shouted that there was a gun.”

Students and staff are being urged to stay in a safe place until the alert is lifted. The university said that media reports of a hostage were incorrect.
