Man accused in ‘mob beating’ stands trial

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - A man accused in the mob murder of a Colonial Heights man pleaded not guilty to all charges against him.

Jonathan Guy is one of four people accused in the beating death of 21-year-old Rusty Mack. Guy is charged with five crimes including first-degree murder and murder by mob.

Guy's trial got underway Thursday in Henrico. The case was moved from Colonial Heights to Henrico to help ensure Guy received a fair trial.

A jury made up of eight woman and four men was chosen to hear the case.

Court documents reveal Mack was hit and kicked outside of his Colonial Heights apartment by four people. One of the alleged attackers was his estranged wife, whom he had only been married to for a few months.
