CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va (WTVR) -- Virginia's General Election is only one week away. But today is the deadline for those looking to submit an application for absentee voting through the mail. You have until 5:00 p.m, at which time the ballot must be in your assigned registrars office. You can drop it off or fax it in. And the last day to vote absentee in-person is Saturday, November 2, at 5:00 p.m.
Virginia law requires a reason to vote absentee. There are various reasons voters can cast a ballot early. Who can vote by absentee ballot?
- Students at institutions of higher learning, and their spouses
- Absent for business purposes
- Absent for personal business or vacation
- At work and commuting 11 hours between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Election Day
