RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) -- More than 10,000 people pounded the pavement Sunday at the Virginia War Memorial to help fight breast cancer.
Organizers said the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5-K fundraising walk is an opportunity to unite as a community.
The event also serves as a chance to honor breast cancer survivors, raise awareness and raise money for the American Cancer Society.
Walkers said the event was eye-opening.
The society said that $350,000 had been raised as of Sunday night. And more donations are still being accepted.
