AMELIA COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) -The Amelia County Sheriff's Office is investigating the early-morning shooting of a child in a Mannboro home.

Investigators said they were called to the home about 6:23 Wednesday morning. There they found an 11-year-old boy who had been shot in the face.

The sheriff's office said the boy was flown to VCU Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition.

Investigators said there was a 10-year-old boy in the house at the time of the shooting.

Deputies would not specifically say whether the boys were home by themselves or if an adult was home with them -- or who pulled the trigger.

A neighbor, who said the family has lived in the home for two years, was devastated by the news.

“Yeah, they're good parents,” said Brian Woods. “I don't want anyone to rush to judgment. It's just sad."

CBS 6 News contacted Amelia Middle School. Officials said they were aware of the incident and had informed the staff, but were not commenting on what happened.
