RICHMOND, VA. (WTVR): Sisters Network Central Virginia Inc. will once again walk the community with life saving information about Breast Cancer. The Gift for Life Block Walk is Saturday, October 28, from 9am to 12pm. This year volunteers will walk the Randolph Community and Fifth Baptist Church, 1415 West Cary Street serves as the headquarters. The walk consists of volunteers canvassing a selected neighborhood door to door to distribute breast cancer information.
Sisters Network, Inc. is the first national African-American breast cancer survivorship organization. The Organization, 501 (c)3, was founded in 1994, it currently has 44 chapters across the nation and over 3,000 members (survivors) and associate members. The Sisters Network Central VA Inc. Chapter, formed in January 2005, Fifteen survivors and twelve associate members saw the need for a second chapter in their community. There grew the annual Gift for Life Block Walk.
