Some storms for Saturday

Posted

After experiencing a wet start to summer, rainfall has been fairly scarce since the beginning of September.  It has rained on only four days so far this month, totaling around one-half inch.

A cold front will pass through the metro around midnight Saturday night.  Storm chances will increase during the afternoon into the evening.  A few isolated storms could be strong with gusty winds and some hail.

An abundance of moisture pooling ahead of the front will create the potential for locally heavy rainfall.  Many areas could see a half-inch or more of rain before the rain tapers off around midnight.
