The high temperature hit 90° on Sunday, making it the 41st day of 2013 with a high in the 90s.
After a brief downturn in temperatures Monday, more heat & humidity will return for Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday. High temperatures of 90° or higher should occur those three days. This would put us slightly past the yearly “normal” of 43 days of 90°, and get us close to last year’s number of 90° days. Unlike last year, this year did not produce a triple-digit air temperature.
Hot & humid weather will surge into the area mid-week thanks to southwesterly winds. A cold front should bring some thunderstorms by late Thursday, and temperatures will cool off for the end of the week. Highs may not get out of the upper 70s next weekend.
And just in case you were wondering, the autumnal equinox occurs on September 22 at 4:44 p.m.
